Too long...

Wow!  I didn't realize that it's been so long since I stopped by :(  I hang my head in shame.  The up side to my absence is that I have been working away!  I have been blessed with the opportunity to work with some great local business professionals and owners as well as tons of great families and kiddos!

Just today I worked on a commercial project with Dan Wight from The Wight House on Main Street in Bountiful and Cameron Drommond from Digitalworxs in The Square at 2600.  We are collaborating on a project for the Bountiful Handcart Days parade later in July.  I used my grandparent's original wedding photo from September 1943 and I love the way it turned out.  Take a look at let me know what you think!

Being that it is summer time I know better than to make any promises about more frequent posts.  I'll just leave you all with the thoughts of ice cold popsicles dripping down our chins :)

Dreaming of a spot in my own little kiddie pool!

Birthday Babies, Bribery and Business Photos...

Well hello there!  I have been making a concerted effort to engage in social media more and I'm still trying to balance the whole life, work, gym, blog, Facebook, mom & wife thing.  Some days I'm better than others :)

Today you get a blog post-yippee!!  Tomorrow, well you never know.  Spring is typically very busy for me work and home wise.  This year is no different.  So to try and condense, what would normally be three different posts is now one larger one.  Okey dokey...

Seriously is this not the cutest birthday baby ever?!  I made the hat myself to match her special party dress.  Clearly she would rather be naked and playing with dinosaurs.  I say why not!

On a side note, this is a perfect example of the importance of a pre-session consultation.  I was able to see the amazing party dress and match the hat to it exactly.  With a 1 year old it doesn't last long but we really only need a couple great shots.

Moving on...

If you have ever worked with me before you know that I am not above bribery.  It makes me happy and it makes you happy that's an all around win in my book :)  This is sweet little 2 year old Holly who told me when she was ready for photos and when she was done.  Luckily she likes smarties!

On to the third "B"...

Internet, meet my new friend George Coleman.  He is the Branch Manager at Academy Mortgage in Centerville.  We met through a business networking group we both belong to.  He was in need of some new business photos so we met up last week.  I know, I know, this doesn't look like your standard business photo.  But see that's the thing.  George isn't just a regular 'ol loan officer and I'm not just a regular 'ol photographer.  We did do the "standard" headshots but then headed to a great park that I just love and look at the amazing shot we got.  Totally relaxed and 100% authentic.  My kind of photo for sure :)

Another side note folks, if you or anyone you know is in need of help with a mortgage loan or refinance, George is your guy!  You can contact him at
or
at the office at (801)295-6222

(And no I don't get any kick backs for saying that.  George is just an all around great guy and you can tell him I said so!)

Well I think that about covers it for last week.  I had some other great senior photo sessions and some product work but we can talk about that later.

If you are thinking about getting on the schedule for spring photos now is the time.  May is nearly full and a good chunk of June is booked already.  Call or email me right away and we can get something set up.

wishing I was outside...

is with one of my favorite little girls :)

The day couldn't have been any better.  The sun was out, we had the park practically to ourselves and the bread for the ducks didn't taste too bad :)

Thanks Jen and Megan for putting up with my crazy ideas.  I just adore this sweet baby!

Sweet Sisters...

Well hello Internet!  It's so nice to see you again.  I made myself a goal to post photos and thoughts more often so here goes.

With the spring temperatures and blooming flowers rapidly approaching I have been busy working away.  I haven't had a chance to share photos of some of my favorite little girls until now.  I have been working with these 2 little cuties since they were both tiny babies.

Just look at these sweet sisters.  They both have the most amazing long blond hair and gorgeous brown eyes. Which in my opinion the world needs more of!

Let me introduce Big Sister.  She is at the age where we start getting the "cheese" face.  Lucky for me (and her parents) all I had to do was play a bit and be patient.  I just can't get enough of those rosebud lips-to die for!!

This is Little Sister.  She hasn't quite gotten to the "poser" stage yet so natural smiles were abundant.  I discovered that she still loves tea parties but now is quite fond of Spiderman :)  Seriously just look at those brown eyes!

I just adore this shot!  Maybe it's because I'm a momma to 2 kiddos.  Or maybe it's their gorgeous blond hair.  More than likely its the authentic smiles and genuine love for each other that is evident on their faces.  Either way all I can say is that I just love these sweet sisters!

Thanks for stopping by!

I know I'm behind...

But what can I say?!  We got hit with a nasty bug at our house and managed to pass it around all four of us :(  Anyway I just wanted to share some photos from a fun event I had the opportunity to attend.  My sweet friend Holly Hanks http://www.phemomenon.com/ invited me to join her at The Winter Warm Up event on March 6th at Log Haven http://www.log-haven.com/ in Millcreek Canyon.

It was a free girls day with fabulous swag and lunch at Log Haven-how could I say no.  We were blessed with lots of yummy food and fun company plus we had the distinct pleasure of listening to Dr. Meg Meeker speak http://www.megmeekermd.com/.  She is a pediatrician, mom and best selling author.  Check out her site for some fabulous insight.

The event was sponsored by KAZ (Vick's products) so we got to leave with some seriously cool swag, if your a mom to sick kiddos like me that is:)  All in all the day was a success.  I got to spend some time with a couple of my favorite girls!  Thanks again Holly.

Check out those big brown eyes!  I always say that this world needs a few more brown eyed girls!

Vick's swag :)

Meg Meeker M.D. addressing the group.  It was SO nice to here a Dr. remind us moms to trust our gut!

Dr. Meeker's book.  Lucky for me I got to take a copy home.

Another view of the swag.  Only a mom to an asthmatic child would be as excited as I was about a new humidifier and a sweet behind the ear thermometer.  The humidifier is on it's way but the thermometer got it's share of use this week :(

One more for the road.  How can you not love this kissy face?!

Well that's all for now folks.

In a quote mood lately...

Thought I would share a few new to me quotes here.

"People don't buy what you do, they buy why you do it."  Simon Sinek

"At the end of the game the king and the pawn go back in the same box."  Simon Baker as Patrick Jane on The Mentalist

One more for good measure.

"The time will come
when, with elation
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror
and each will smile at the other's welcome,

and say, sit here, Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life."
Derek Walcott

that's all for now :)
