Birthday Babies, Bribery and Business Photos...

Well hello there!  I have been making a concerted effort to engage in social media more and I'm still trying to balance the whole life, work, gym, blog, Facebook, mom & wife thing.  Some days I'm better than others :)

Today you get a blog post-yippee!!  Tomorrow, well you never know.  Spring is typically very busy for me work and home wise.  This year is no different.  So to try and condense, what would normally be three different posts is now one larger one.  Okey dokey...

Seriously is this not the cutest birthday baby ever?!  I made the hat myself to match her special party dress.  Clearly she would rather be naked and playing with dinosaurs.  I say why not!

On a side note, this is a perfect example of the importance of a pre-session consultation.  I was able to see the amazing party dress and match the hat to it exactly.  With a 1 year old it doesn't last long but we really only need a couple great shots.

Moving on...

If you have ever worked with me before you know that I am not above bribery.  It makes me happy and it makes you happy that's an all around win in my book :)  This is sweet little 2 year old Holly who told me when she was ready for photos and when she was done.  Luckily she likes smarties!

On to the third "B"...

Internet, meet my new friend George Coleman.  He is the Branch Manager at Academy Mortgage in Centerville.  We met through a business networking group we both belong to.  He was in need of some new business photos so we met up last week.  I know, I know, this doesn't look like your standard business photo.  But see that's the thing.  George isn't just a regular 'ol loan officer and I'm not just a regular 'ol photographer.  We did do the "standard" headshots but then headed to a great park that I just love and look at the amazing shot we got.  Totally relaxed and 100% authentic.  My kind of photo for sure :)

Another side note folks, if you or anyone you know is in need of help with a mortgage loan or refinance, George is your guy!  You can contact him at
or
at the office at (801)295-6222

(And no I don't get any kick backs for saying that.  George is just an all around great guy and you can tell him I said so!)

Well I think that about covers it for last week.  I had some other great senior photo sessions and some product work but we can talk about that later.

If you are thinking about getting on the schedule for spring photos now is the time.  May is nearly full and a good chunk of June is booked already.  Call or email me right away and we can get something set up.

wishing I was outside...

The best way to spend a Sunday morning...

is with one of my favorite little girls :)

The day couldn't have been any better.  The sun was out, we had the park practically to ourselves and the bread for the ducks didn't taste too bad :)

Thanks Jen and Megan for putting up with my crazy ideas.  I just adore this sweet baby!

Sweet Sisters...

Well hello Internet!  It's so nice to see you again.  I made myself a goal to post photos and thoughts more often so here goes.

With the spring temperatures and blooming flowers rapidly approaching I have been busy working away.  I haven't had a chance to share photos of some of my favorite little girls until now.  I have been working with these 2 little cuties since they were both tiny babies.

Just look at these sweet sisters.  They both have the most amazing long blond hair and gorgeous brown eyes. Which in my opinion the world needs more of!

Let me introduce Big Sister.  She is at the age where we start getting the "cheese" face.  Lucky for me (and her parents) all I had to do was play a bit and be patient.  I just can't get enough of those rosebud lips-to die for!!

This is Little Sister.  She hasn't quite gotten to the "poser" stage yet so natural smiles were abundant.  I discovered that she still loves tea parties but now is quite fond of Spiderman :)  Seriously just look at those brown eyes!

I just adore this shot!  Maybe it's because I'm a momma to 2 kiddos.  Or maybe it's their gorgeous blond hair.  More than likely its the authentic smiles and genuine love for each other that is evident on their faces.  Either way all I can say is that I just love these sweet sisters!

Thanks for stopping by!

Sweet little girls...

Well hello Internet!  I wish I could say it was a lovely spring day but alas it is not :(  The sun is shining which is a bonus but spring is no where in sight.  Luckily I have some fun photos of 2 seriously sweet little girls to keep me busy for now.

Meet Big Sis.  These 2 year olds can give me a run for my money but oh my isn't this worth it?!

Now meet Little Sis.  We worked hard for that little smile-but again oh so worth it!  Plus how can you not love my new little chair!

How about a little vintage vibe?  I don't normally get into a bunch of Photoshop work on my photos.  I'd rather them speak for themselves but occasionally a fun little vintage wash is just what the doctor ordered.

Look at this great hat I found in your dress up trunk!!  It even matches my shirt perfectly :)

This photo is particularly special!  These sweet little girl's Daddy just left for 3 months of basic training.  That's a really long time when you're so little.  Their amazing mama has it under control but she definitely deserves a gold star!  And that's coming from a mama who's hubby was only home 3 days last month :)

Thanks for popping in!  Wish there were some flowers popping up!

A Fabulous Saturday Morning...

Internet I would like to introduce The Jones Family.  Now that we're all aquainted let's move on to some photos shall we?

We spent a warm fall morning playing at the farm.  Sweet Baby Kamden stole the show, and a little piece of my heart to boot!

His mama is the cousin of my sweet friend Kristalee.  I'm blessed with such great clients who have turned into amazing friends!

I brought along an antique quilt and some fun stories.  What they brought is a special bond and a unique love that is just magic.

Look at that yummy light!  Oh it just makes me melt!

This was one of those sessions that will go down in history as truly amazing.  Beautiful soft light, gorgeous dresses, beautiful girls and fabulous color, color, color!!!

For those of you who know me or have worked with me before, you know I have a very relaxed go with the flow attitude and portrait style.  I prefer to give very little specific "posing" directions, rather just guide my clients to the yummy light and let the littles be little :)

I will however bring fun additions to help add to the session.  In this case a beautiful antique quilt and some fun stories to share.

And now for the Pièce de résistance...

The stars aligned to set up this shot.  We were getting ready to head out when I saw the lights on The Joseph Smith Memorial Building.  I just asked big sister to take little sister's hand and walk down the street.  The end result was simply magic.  Thank you again "H" family for a marvelous night!!

One more just for fun:)

Every once in a while...

The stars align and the perfect session comes along.  This was one of those sessions.  Perfect light, nice weather and yummy baby.  I have loved so many photos from this day but this one...oh be still my heart.  I'm in love!!!!

If blogger could just get the color right then you could all be in love too.  Seriously everything about this makes me smile.  The pink ruffly romper, chubby cheeks and long eyelashes oh and let's not forget the fingers.  Those chubby little baby fingers do me in every time.

thanks for humoring me twice in 1 week :)

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming...

That is my motto right now.  I know, I know I'm a really bad blogger and I'm always promising to do better but rarely following through.  I also know that you don't want to hear my sob story about my crazy life.  So with that in mind I thought maybe I'd share a few things we've been doing lately an maybe a photo or two.  Since that's why you're here after all :)

So what have we been up to lately?  Well my little guy turned 7 recently and started playing on a machine pitch baseball team.  No more t-ball for him, it's the big time now :)  Too bad his 1st real game was canceled due to the CRAZY weather!

My almost 10 year old is dancing up a storm.  She will be performing an extra part in recital this year so that will be her regular part performed twice, the extra part and a separate jazz dance/recital.  She absolutely loves it and it is such a joy to watch her succeed!

My hubby is hanging out is Fresno CA when he's not flying all over the place.  Fresno is his home base for right now so we only see him about 24 hours every 7 days.  Lucky for us he does have some time off soon and we plan to soak it all up!

What am I up to you ask?  Well the usual...spending a lot of time at the gym, cooking, cleaning and working, working, and more working.  Honestly I don't really know how to sit down and do nothing.  I just don't think I have it in me.  Lucky for you folks that means more photos right?!

Well here's a few recent shots that I love...

I mean just look at her!  Isn't she the sweetest?  And that thumb in her mouth-LOVE IT!!

If you've been hanging out around here for awhile then you know I love me some squishy baby cheeks.  Especially the kind that go home at night and keep their own mamma's awake :)

Now that I've written a small novel I'd better wrap it up.
Until the next time I'm feeling long winded...

So glad it's Friday...

I made it back to the pool today after the Christmas break.  Man why does it have to be so hard?  I only took 2 weeks off and it's not like I didn't work out every single stinkin' day.  I just didn't swim and now you'd have thought I didn't know how today :).

Anyway I've decided to try and update the 'ol blog a little more often in the new year.  Since you're already sick of my whining maybe I'll throw in a photo here...

Check out this little man, isn't he a cutie.  I worked with his family as one of my last sessions from 2010.  He was certainly a charmer that's for sure.  I'd better make it quick, it is Friday night after all.  You know I've got some fab plans right?!  Very funny!

Until next time,
Angela

"In between" photo of the week...

I have a ton of stuff on my plate right now so this is going to be short and sweet tonight.  Everyone let's say hello to Collin.

This little guy is a ball of energy and definitely the wild card in his family!  Maybe that is why we get along so well :)  I have been working with this family since Collin was super little.  Can I just say again how lucky I am to hang out with such fun people who keep coming back for more.  So very blessed!!

gotta run...

"in between" photos of the week

I know I'm a slacker and didn't post an "in between" photo last week and I'm sorry.  What can I say back to school got the best of me.  So this week I'm going to make up for it by posting 2 photos.  How's that?  Does everyone feel better now?  Well I do anyway...

The sweet kiddos are the Hewetts.  Doesn't it look like they are having fun?  Well let me give you a little background info.  This day was a particularly hot July day and even at 7pm it was miserable.  When I say hot I mean HOT HOT HOT!!  Well what's a photographer to do when the thermostat outside is measuring the same temperatue as the sun?  Bubbles of course!  As you can see the idea went over pretty well.

No proper little girl likes to get bubbles on their face!  Lucky me look what I got.

And because I don't want Spencer to feel left out here's 1 more.  Technically yes I lied when said I would post 2 photos.  And yes I know I shouldn't start a sentence with and.  Silly me!

That's all folks!

"In betweens" photo of the week

Well there's one thing to be said about me-I'm consistent!  This week anyway :)  The "in betweens" photo of the week is a shot of sweet little Emily.  She just LOVED posing and working it for my camera.  This shot came after one of her "poses".

I guess it just goes to show that its worth it to pay attention!  Just look at the sparkle in her eyes.  The technical term for that is "catchlights" and it's all about positioning the subject in the right light and knowing my camera like the back of my hand.  Oh and mother nature provided the beautiful wind blown hair.  No fan needed.

The "in betweens"...

For the last couple of months I've been toying with the idea of a photo of the week type post.  I'm too A.D.D. to commit to a daily post but I can probably handle a weekly post.  Enter disclaimer here...I won't promise anything as far as what day of the week I will post but I will do my best to be consistent.

On to the topic of the photo of the week posts...the in betweens.  I know, I know that's not grammatically correct but hear me out.  Most of you know me and know my work.  It has a very organic, un-posed feel to it.  While I see the need and do try to accomodate the larger traditional family portraits my heart lies in those stolen moments of family connectedness.  The "in betweens".  Let me give you a couple of examples...

This is the perfect example of a hilarious "in between" moment.  Poor baby Morgan was not having a good day, as you can tell.  Big sister Addison was just trying to help and the middle child, was well the middle child.

I often capture "in between" moments that are more worthy of your precious wall space.

This particular shot is one of my all time favorites.  I gave the kids some simple directions to walk across the bridge, stop and turn to look at me.  This is the yummy result.

Another favorite.  Little brother Elliot wasn't quite sure about me yet, but big sister Annie just wanted some love.

How about one more?

I asked these cute kiddos to show me their best yoga moves.  I got yoga moves but I also got silly natural expressions I wouldn't have gotten otherwise.

So what this all boils down to is paying attention.  I can be loud and funny when I need to but I am always watching for those special moments.  Those "in betweens".

Stayed tuned for next weeks installment.
xoxoxo!
